With the 2025 NFL Draft kicking off on Thursday, there are plenty of former Notre Dame football stars who are hoping to hear their names called by the end of the weekend. The good news here is there is no other school in the country where former players have a good chance of getting drafted.
There are plenty of reasons why kids should attend Notre Dame. One of the biggest reasons is that it offers a real top-level education that will go a long way towards helping people after their athletic career is over. There’s also of course, the chance to win the National Championship. But there’s yet another reason why South Bend is always going to be attractive to high school kids looking for a landing spot.
There isn’t a program in the country that has been a better NFL factory than the Notre Dame football team, and the school is once again staging the ultimate flex just days ahead of the draft. The Irish have had more players selected, with a whopping 532, though their margin isn’t big enough to make the 2025 draft disappointing.

Notre Dame football looks to widen historic lead in total NFL Draft picks
A noted Notre Dame rival is right there when it comes to the most players selected. However, after the Irish’s 532 and USC’s 530 there is some separation. Ohio State is in third place with 489, Oklahoma is fourth at 417, and Michigan rounds out the Top 5 with 415.
When it comes to NFL Draft Buzz, the Notre Dame football team is expected to send as many as six players to NFL teams by the end of the weekend. Xavier Watts, Riley Leonard, Rylie Mills, Benjamin Morrison, Mitchell Evans and Jack Kiser are expected to be selected.
Should that come to pass, it would mean a grand total of 538 Irish players taken over the years. It seems like USC is poised to have quite a few less drafted this year. So the Notre Dame football team could expand its lead when all is said and done.
