Now that the 2025 NFL Draft has come and gone, there are plenty of Notre Dame football players who are headed to the next level. Six former Irish were taken over the weekend and several others managed to score themselves some Undrafted Free Agent deals.

Now several former Irish stars are getting at least a chance to play in the NFL. Unfortunately, their chance isn’t quite as solid as even an UDFA. Instead, three ex-Golden Domers are invited to rookie mini camps invitations.

Former Notre Dame players fight for NFL futures with rookie mini-camp invites

Kicker Mitch Jeter, defensive end RJ Oben and running back Devyn Ford all received various rookie mini-camp invites on Sunday. This means the ex-Notre Dame football stars will have a chance to show their various invitors that they should make their actual rosters.

Jeter signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but they do have second-year player Will Reichard returning and it seems like a longshot that they would carry a second active kciker. Oben inked with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Ford is looking to make the Las Vegas Raiders roster.

Granted that won’t be easy after the Raiders used their No. 6 overall pick to take Boise State star Ashton Jeanty. Even behind Jeanty, there are more than a few solid veteran backups already on the roster as well.

Of course, when it comes to these kinds of rookie mini-camp invites, it’s more about the players getting to show they belong in the league. These former Notre Dame football players might not hook on with the squads giving them the invites, but they might be able to parlay them into other shots.
