Not one but two former Notre Dame football coaches are officially getting ready for some MAC-tion in 2025.

Nick Coleman and Greer Martini were defensive teammates on Notre Dame football teams from 2015-2017, and on Monday, it was announced that they will once again be on the same team, this time as assistant coaches.

A report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel said that both Coleman and Martini are joining the Western Michigan staff. It’s yet another interesting connection between Notre Dame football and the MAC. And this one doesn’t even require the Irish to suffer a humiliating loss that gets held up as a reason to keep them out of the playoffs over and over and over.

Martini, a former Notre Dame captain, was Charlotte’s linebackers coach for the last two years. He’s taking the same position for the Broncos after the 49ers changed their staff with the firing of Biff Poggi.

Coleman was an analyst at LSU, working with former Irish head coach Brian Kelly. Now he gets to take up the coaching ladder to become a position coach. He’s reportedly set to take over the cornerbacks at WMU.

There’s an added bonus that while the Notre Dame football team tends to play a lot of MAC teams, there’s no plan for the team to take on Western Michigan anytime soon. That means Irish fans can just sit back and root for the two former players to have all the success in their coaching careers’ latest steps.
