It’s Notre Dame football’s big day but Northern Illinois looks to be suffering from some little brother syndrome. The MAC turned Mountain West team is apparently still dining out on what happened much earlier in the year and wants the world to know it.
Granted, if you were the only team that had managed to beat the Fighting Irish all year long you’d want people to know it too. And you’d be rooting for it to stay that way.
That’s why on Monday afternoon, the Northern Illinois social media team put out a very tongue in cheek video that was both rooting on the Notre Dame football team against the Ohio State Buckeyes while also making it very clear that the Huskies did it their way en route to the biggest upset of the college football season.

Notre Dame football gets a pat on the back and a slap in the face
The video, posted on Twitter, is a two-minute long piece that shows the highlights (from Northern Illinoi’s perspective) of the game in September, where the mid-major program was able to pull off the upset against the Golden Domers.
The video is set to Frank Sinatra’s “I did it my way,” with the video ending with what is apparently one of NIU’s slogan,s “The Hard Way.”
While the video itself is nothing more than Northern Illinois celebrating its victory, there is a caption on the tweet that does send out a bit of love to the Irish. “Good luck tonight,” is the caption with the post making it clear the Huskies are rooting for the Fighting Irish.
Normally, the post would be a bit annoying, but on Monday afternoon, I’ll take all the support I can get for Notre Dame football as they get ready to take on Ohio State.
