5-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola is ready to shut down his recruitment and make a commitment on Tuesday morning. Notre Dame football fans should be especially excited, as several recruiting analysts believe that when he announces his school of choice, it will be the one in South Bend.
Oluwasemilore Olubobola has Notre Dame football leading a final-three battle into Tuesday
Olubobola is set to make it official at 11:00 am on May 12, and he will announce his college pick from three finalists. The Fighting Irish, the Miami Hurricanes, and the Texas A&M are the official finalists.
Notre Dame overtook Texas A&M as the favorite to land Olubobola after several recent forecasts from Rivals analysts and team-site experts. Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons logged predictions for Notre Dame last week and were quickly followed by BlueAndGold.com‘s Mike Singer and CaneSport.com‘s EJ Holland.
Even more impressive than the Irish leading the pack is that they made so much ground up in a relatively short period of time. Olubobola visited South Bend for the first time in late April and came away impressed with Marcus Freeman’s program. So impressed that he’ll be a member of that program on Tuesday morning.
Oluwasemilore Olubobola could give Notre Dame football another major rankings boost
Notre Dame currently ranks ninth nationally in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings with 12 commitments, including 10 four-stars. The Irish are riding a recent stretch that added six pledges since April 22, including four-star tight end Titus Hawk over Florida, Alabama, and Oklahoma.
Should Oluwasemilore Olubobola indeed pull the trigger for Notre Dame, it would almost certainly give their ranking a surge. The 5-star offensive tackle is the No. 3 player at his position according to both 247Sports and On3. He’s also the top player in the state of New Jersey and is one of the Top 25 players in the country according to both sites.
