Notre Dame football on alert as opponent QB injury impacts season, resume
It’s still a few weeks until the Notre Dame football team takes on the Army Black Knights. It’s never too early to start getting ready and watching that team as there is chance they could be undefeated when they take on the Irish.
On the other hand, Army finds itself in a rather precarious situation on Saturday. They will be facing off against Air Force without its star quarterback. Bryson Daily is out after not being able to practice all week.
That may not matter in the long run for Notre Dame football fans. After all, Air Force is just 1-6 on the season. However, the question is just how many weeks Daily might miss with that is reportedly an undisclosed illness or injury. Some believe he has an infection in his foot.
Notre Dame football opponent on injury watch status
It’s hard to state just how big a weapon Daily has been for Army this season. His 19 rushing TDs lead the country, and his 909 rushing yards lead QBs. The No. 21 cadets have scored less than 30 points just once all season.
With Air Force this week and North Texas next week, it stands to reason Army can stay undefeated until it gets to Notre Dame. That’s a big deal considering the Black Knights might be the only team that has a winning record when the Irish face them this season.
Staying undefeated is a big deal for the same reason. Marcus Freeman’s bunch doesn’t have a resume that screams bye week in the playoffs. There are some who don’t think it screams playoffs at all.
The resume gets even worse if Daily has to miss a lot of time and his replacement, Dewayne Coleman, can’t do the same kind of job.
This injury is one to watch for the next few weeks, both for the Notre Dame football game against Army and how that game will affect the Irish resume with just weeks to go in the regular season.
