The Notre Dame football team is working on fixing things in the 2025 season. The staff is also working hard on the recruiting front, and that now even includes the 2028 cycle. One of the top prospects in that class has felt the love, and now Phoenix Evans clearly has the Fighting Irish among the teams he has the most interest in.
"Notre Dame is a school that I can definitely see myself at," Evans told Rivals earlier this week. He's a long way from being able to pull the trigger, but Marcus Freeman and Co. have a foot in the door.
One way to tell that Evans is really interested in the Notre Dame football team is that he's still interested despite seeing the team when they were losing at home to Texas A&M.
If that wasn't bad enough, the four-star class of 2028 cornerback arrived in South Bend later than anticipated due to flight delays. But with all this in mind, Evans still had a great experience.
Notre Dame football remains high on 2028 CB Phoenix Evans’ radar
Evans, who is the No. 61 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the land per the 2028 Rivals Industry Ranking, did get to communicate with a couple staffers prior to the game.
The New Jersey prospect has already taken a few visits to South Bend. However, he's also taken a ton of trips to see Rutgers. Now the Notre Dame football team will need to keep the pressure up and make sure they are still in the running when Phoenix Evans starts taking official visits in a few years.
