There's been a lot of talk about just how good the Notre Dame football team's 2026 recruiting class is, one of the best in the country. As it turns out, the Irish possess the top class in the country, according to Rivals' updated rankings.
Rivals recently updated several of its individual player rankings, and some of those got a boost that allowed the Irish to jump to the top of the Rivals rankings. There is a caveat here: the industry rankings have them down to No. 3 in the total rankings. Still, Marcus Freeman and Co. are having themselves a heck of a 2026 cycle.
The Notre Dame football team and its 27 commits sit just ahead of the Georgia Bulldogs and their 31 commitments. Rivals uses an interesting formula to determine the scores of its classes, and that's why Oregon is No. 3, with just 17 commits.

Things aren't quite as cut and dried according to the 247Sports rankings. The Irish sit as the third-best team in the country in those rankings. While that's not as good obviously, it still shows how Freeman and his staff are having some serious success on the recruiting front.
With just a few months until the early signing period, the best part of where the Blue and Gold sit is that there aren't any prospects wavering. Not only do they have very good commits, but they're as solid as solid can be.
During a period of time when commitments tend to shift allegiances every other week, the Notre Dame football team is locking in a top class they know will be there in December.
