As Notre Dame football efforts in the 2027 recruiting class ramp up, the Fighting Irish are racking up commitment predictions left and right this week. The latest prediction to eventually play football in South Bend is offensive tackle prospect Layton Von Brandt.
The Middletown (Del.) Appoquinimink recently received his prediction to land with the Irish by Rivals analyst Kyle Kelly. It's clear that one of the reasons he's gotten that prediction is because of a quote he gave to the analyst about the relationship he's struck up with Marcus Freeman and his crew.
"The people in that building and the relationships that I have are second to none," Von Brandt told Kelly about Notre Dame.
It's the kind of quote that should get ND fans all sorts of fired up. And it made the analyst put in a commitment prediction with 60% certainty on Wednesday afternoon.
Should Layton Von Brandt eventually pull the trigger for the Golden Domers, it will mean they land one of the best offensive linemen in the class. The offensive tackle is ranked as the top player in the state of Delaware by both Rivals and 247Sports. He's considered the No. 6 OT and No. 70 player in his class according to Rivals and the No. 6 OT and No. 59 overall player according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-foot-5.5, 255-pound monster lineman got an official offer from Notre Dame when he took an unofficial visit to South Bend last November. Now he's coming back on April 11.
Before he returns to Notre Dame, Von Brandt has visits lined up to Virginia Tech (March 21), Florida (March 24), Auburn (March 26), and Tennessee (March 28). He'll also return to Penn State, where he's been 11 times, on April 17. Despite the many visits to see the Nittany Lions, the Fighting Irish are now officially considered the front-runners for his services.
