As the Notre Dame football team starts recruiting heavily for the 2027 class and beyond, the Irish are poised to have one of the best young quarterbacks in the country paying a visit to South Bend this weekend. American Heritage signal-caller Neimann Lawrence has some of the biggest schools in the country but the Irish have their foot in the door in a big way early.
247Sports' Tom Loy was the first to report that the young quarterback is set to see South Bend this weekend. The 4-star prospect in the 2028 class out of Plantation, Florida will be checking out the campus for the first time. It's not a stretch to say that this being the first time he's seen campus could be a real tool in the Fighting Irish toolkit.
Notre Dame will host what is considered the No. 4 quarterback and No. 29 player in the entire 2028 class according to Rivals. 247Sports also has Lawrence rankaed as the No. 4 QB and only has him slightly lower (No. 38) in the entire class. Both services obviously have him ranked right at the top of the list among Florida prospects as well.
Neimann Lawrence's first Notre Dame football visit puts the Irish in early with a 2028 elite quarterback
While there's still plenty of time for the star quarterback to make a decision, Lawrence has already narrowed down the schools he's considering at this point in late February. In addition to the Fighting Irish, the 4-star prospect named the Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Michigan Wolverines, Kentucky Wildcats, Florida Gators, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Oregon Ducks.
That is to say that while Notre Dame can get their foot in the door early, Neimann Lawrence is being pursued by all the big schools in the country. This fight will almost certainly go down to a wire that's still almost two years away.
