St. Patrick's Day is always a special time in South Bend, but this year, Notre Dame is celebrating because the Fighting Irish received two new predictions for some top 2027 prospects. Both Layton Von Brandt and Cade Cooper had analysts predicting they were ND bound for a while, but new predictions on Tuesday morning hammered that home.

Cooper, a 4-star receiver out of Malvern Prep in Pennsylvania, received an initial prediction for the Irish from Mike Singer on March 9. On Tuesday, Steve Wiltfong echoed that sentiment with his own prediction that the receiver would eventually sign with Marcus Freeman's squad.

Likewise, Von Brandt - a 4-star offensive lineman from Appoquinimink, Delaware - received a Notre Dame prediction last week. He came from Kyle Kelly last Tuesday, and Wiltfong also doubled down on that analysis on St. Patrick's Day.

Layton Von Brandt and Cade Cooper predictions give Notre Dame football's 2027 class real momentum

The Irish had an incredible run in the 2026 recruiting cycle, and it looks like Freeman and his crew are starting 2027 solidly as well. The good news for those predictions is that ND hasn't really even begun.

This week will be a big one for the Irish. Once spring practice starts, Notre Dame will get to show guys like Von Brandt and Cooper everything the program has to offer once again.

Things are about to speed up for everyone, and that's also when things will get hectic as the Irish start to pare down who they will accept a commitment from.

Both Layton Von Brandt and Cade Cooper could commit to Notre Dame relatively soon and beat the rush for the 2027 class.
