Notre Dame football eyeing QB Brady Quinn — but not that Brady Quinn

Notre Dame football target Brady Quinn wants you to know that he’s looking to chart his own path. Whether that be at South Bend or somewhere else.

As it turns out, that won’t be nearly as hard as some might think, considering that Brady Quinn is not related to Notre Dame great, Brady Quinn. It’s one of the oddest consequences in college football this year. There’s someone with the same name of one of the better quarterbacks of the last few decades, who is a quarterback as well, but is not the former player’s son. Or cousin. Or family member in any way.

"No sir, no relation," the Notre Dame football target told Sports Illustrated just ahead of a visit to South Bend on Wednesday. "My dad and his whole family are huge Notre Dame fans and I was named after him." That visit could lead to him getting an offer from Marcus Freeman and company. And should he eventually commit, he could be the second Brady Quinn to play for the Fighting Irish, while not having a connection to the first Brady Quinn other than his dad was a fan.

Of course, if the Irish do land the 2028 quarterback prospect, they could be doing it over the wishes of several power programs. The gunslinger is spending a good deal of his spring seeing what different schools have to offer.

He’s already visited Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Florida State and Ohio State. After a couple of weeks off, he’s back on the road this week. He’s visiting Notre Dame on Wednesday then he heads to Indiana on April 10 and then to Purdue on April 11.

The First Baptist Academy quarterback has a long way to go before he chooses his school. However the Notre Dame football team is clearly looking to get their foot in the door. The good news here is that it’s not just because his name is Brady Quinn.
