McGaskin announced over the weekend he was announcing where he will go to college on June 30. Considering the recruiting run the Notre Dame football team has had in May and June, it stands to reason Freeman makes a run. However, at the moment, it doesn’t look like the Blue and Gold are the odds-on front runner.
While they might not be the front runner, Notre Dame did manage to show McGaskin how attractive going to school to South Bend would be. The linebacker talked to Irish Sports Daily after his visit about what he saw.
“Everybody coming together and showing me I was a priority - everybody was showing love from the supporters, the parents, the coaches and I even got to connect with Coach Freeman,” McGaskin told the publication. “As much as he was moving around, it meant a lot.”
McGaskin has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia among others.
At the moment the Seminoles look like they might be the favorite. However, considering how much success the Notre Dame football team has had when pursuing some of the best players in the country this year, there’s always a chance they can Ellis McGaskin to change his mind by the time he announces his decision.
