If you thought the new advertisement starring Notre Dame football superfan Shane Gillis was the end of it, you were very sadly mistaken. The Irish got into the fun on Friday when they released their injury and availability report for the Miami game.

As far as actual surprise injuries, no one had pointed out any that fans didn't expect on the Notre Dame front. Tight ends Justin Fisher and Cooper Flanagan, and offensive linemen Devan Houston, Charles Jagusah, and Peter Jones are ruled out of the game with various injuries. It's one more addition that caught people's eyes and showed that the Irish can poke fun at the process.

Why Shane Gillis was hilariously listed as 'out' for Notre Dame vs. Miami

As The Athletic's Pete Sampson pointed out, the Notre Dame availability report also listed Shane Gillis as being out for the game due to "tailgating." To really get the joke, fans would have to watch the clip and see Gillis asking Freeman for one snap. Instead, he apparently partied too hard and won't get in after all.

It’s great to see Notre Dame keeping up with the running joke, though the thing about jokes like this is they need to be put to bed before they stop being funny and just get annoying.

Other than the running joke, the most notable aspect of the availability report is that only Flanagan and Jagusah would have seen much action, if they were ready to go.

Other than them, the Notre Dame football team looks like it will be near full strength. That's especially important as they look to lock horns with the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday.
