As has been the case with most of the Marcus Freeman signing days, things were relatively uneventful for most of the morning. The Notre Dame football program is very good at locking things down ahead of the big day so that there aren’t any surprises.

However, Freeman did have one play up his sleeves. While linebacker Madden Faraimo had been thought to be a heavy USC lean right up until signing day, it turns out he had a little Irish in him after all.

The Notre Dame football team, in the process got one of the best linebackers in the entire class. While keeping everyone else they thought were going to sign. Including their new quartebrack Blake Hebert.

Notre Dame football coaches screaming about Madden Faraimo

Sometimes, a coach knows about a player committing days ahead of time. Other times, a flip is as big a surprise to them as it is to the rest of the public. And on Wednesday, Faraimo’s flip was certainly a nice surprise to the Irish coaches.

During the team’s signing day ceremony, Notre Dame GM Chad Bowden said that he found out about the linebacker committing from Freeman. But the coach didn’t tell him so much as Bowden heard him screaming from down the hall.

Eventually, Bowden said that all the Notre Dame football coaches came out of their individual offices to celebrate the big get together. It was a nice exclamation point for a signing day that was already plenty positive. Now the program can turn its attention to the playoffs and the 2026 class.
