The Notre Dame football team's recruiting hot streak continued on Thursday afternoon when 4-star 2027 quarterback Teddy Jarrard committed to the Fighting Irish.

Jarrard hosted a live video where he announced his pick from a final five of Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Notre Dame. The recruiting victory means that once again, the Irish have won a recruiting battle over the Nittany Lions and new archenemy, James Franklin.

Notre Dame football lands 2027 QB Teddy Jarrard over top rivals

Jarrard is a rather interesting prospect because the Notre Dame football team has been cautious about who they offered at quarterback in the 2027 class. The Irish had just two offers out in the Kenesaw, Georgia, target and Louisiana's Peyton Houston.

By landing Jarrard, Notre Dame has once again shown that they are well-stocked behind center. Despite a setback in the 2025 recruiting class, they've managed to get their top targets in the last two classes. More importantly, for the second straight year, locking down their quarterback for the class so early allows them to focus elsewhere over the next year.

The No. 2 quarterback in Rivals rankings had looked like a lean to the Irish for quite a while now, with most of the recruiting analysts who weighed in on the subject believed Jarrard would have to see a big last second shift to go anywhere else.

This commitment means that Freeman has secured at least one 4-star quarterback in each of the last four recruiting classes. Alongisde Ellis McGaskin, Teddy Jarrard pulling the trigger for the Notre Dame football team means the Irish have gotten off to a very good start to the 2027 class.
