Now that the Notre Dame football team is officially preparing for its game against Arkansas, tight end Ty Washington's toss of gasoline on the fire last month is resurfacing.
Washington came over to South Bend after three seasons in Fayetteville. During his time with the Razorbacks, he never had more than 11 catches in a season. He was surprised when he was dismissed by Sam Pittman last year, and clearly holds a bit of a grudge against his former team. It's clear he's excited for the contest versus the SEC also-ran.
Notre Dame TE thinks Arkansas fans will give up quickly
It's also clear that the Notre Dame tight end has had this game marked on his calendar since he joined the Fighting Irish. He gave a preview of the game when he arrived at fall camp, and it's a safe bet Arkansas fans took note.
"They get loud. The fanbase gets in there quick. Student section gets in there fast," Washington said before adding a caveat.
"But if you really shut them out quick, it'll be done. The fanbase will be quiet. Everybody [will] go home. It's too hot. It’s too hot at Arkansas. So everybody wants to go home if they lose."
Washington can take solace in knowing that the game is expected to be pretty warm. The weather report shows it will feel like 87 in the stands, so it'll be closer to 97 on the field.
The Notre Dame football team will certainly want to get a quick start, especially with the defensive struggles it's had this season. Now there's an added bonus of trying to make sure the fans give up quickly.
