Over the last few years, the Notre Dame football team has had quite the rivalry with the Louisville Cardinals, and that rivalry now includes the Irish trying to flip Tyler Fryman.
The 2027 Kentucky athlete has been committed to play baseball at Louisville since eighth grade, but now has college football programs chasing him, including the Irish, Louisville, Miami-Ohio, and Toledo, who have all offered scholarships.
Notre Dame football is targeting Louisville baseball commit Tyler Fryman
According to On3's Mike Singer, Fryman took in the Notre Dame game against Texas A&M last weekend. And the recruit told him that the visit was so great that it exceeded all expectations.
"It was sick. I got the full Fighting Irish experience."
Fryman went on to explain the Irish Sports Daily that his trip to South Bend was the first time he'd gotten to take in a a college football game live and in person.
"It was amazing," Fryman told Irish Sports Daily. "Honestly, that was my first time ever experiencing college football, so for that being the first time, it was really cool."
"I heard a lot of big things, especially about a big school like Notre Dame, but I didn't expect it. It was pretty cool. The atmosphere and the culture, all the fans and everybody were into it. It was special."
Should the Notre Dame football team manage to flip Tyler Fryman, it will allow him to play baseball as well. Marcus Freeman and Co. have quite a bit of experience dealing with two-sport stars. In the meantime, the diamond in the rough wide receiver will almost certainly get more attention as the calendar marches closer to the signing date for the 2027 class.
