With Teddy Jarrard moving from the 2027 to the 2026 class, Notre Dame is testing the waters with several other top quarterbacks in the current class. Among those that the Irish are making moves with is Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV.
During a recent podcast talking about big moves some teams have made in recruiting this week, On3 chief analyst Steve Wiltfong believes that the Irish could sneak in and grab the 4-star signal caller. Chief among those efforts is getting him to South Bend on April 18.
"Champ Monds really emerging with OSU right now," Wiltfong said, making it clear that Ohio State is one of the big front-runners for the Vero Beach prospect. "Notre Dame is a dark horse for Champ Monds as well. Monds is scheduled to visit Notre Dame the weekend of April 18."

Notre Dame football will get a big chance with Wonderful “Champ” Monds IV on April 18
"He was the first guy that Notre Dame offered at the position after their 2027 commit. Teddy Jarrard reclassified to 2026. Notre Dame embodies a lot of the things that Champ Monds and his family are looking for in a school."
"So we'll see if Notre Dame can make a run. With their visit, but right now you have Florida State, and you have Ohio State battling."
While the Irish don't absolutely need a quarterback in the 2027 class, Marcus Freeman would still like to bring one in every cycle, even if he's technically got two in 2026 in Noah Grubbs and Jarrard. To that end, Notre Dame has offered only four quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle: 4-star prospects Peyton Houston, Davin Davidson, Kamden Lopati, and Wonderful Monds IV. Davidson recently committed to Florida.
