Now that the Notre Dame football team has Teddy Jarrard and Ellis McGaskin as commits in their 2027 class, Marcus Freeman and Co. are catching the eye of more than a few of the other top prospects in the class. Jarrard, in particular, has drawn the attention of one of the best wide receivers in the class, Antayvious Ellis.
Tay Ellis is currently a 3-star wide receiver who is No. 37 in the state of Texas, No. 33 at his position, and No. 259 in the 2027 class (according to the Rivals Industry Rankings) out of Crowley (Fort Worth, TX). While he's still a bit of a diamond in the rough at the position than the Irish typically take, he is someone who is getting more attention from power programs as the days go on.
Teddy Jarrard’s commitment puts Notre Dame squarely on Tay Ellis’s radar
Ellis has offers from Texas A&M, Texas, SMU, and Baylor, among others, but their reeling in of Jarrard put the Notre Dame football team on his radar.
"Notre Dame actually just shocked me with that quarterback commitment from my 2027 class," Ellis told Irish Sports Daily. The receiver said the addition of an elite prospect at the quarterback position, like Jarrard, opened his eyes even more to the Irish.
He added that there's another receiver that's part of the 2026 class that got his attention.
"You have Brayden Robinson, that's my dog," the Crowley High School star said of his fellow Texas receiver.
"He's been my dog since I was like 10 years old. So when he commits and he tells me about Notre Dame and the culture, I have to get up there to see it."
Ellis added that he wants to get up to see that culture in person. For now, he doesn't know when he could see the Notre Dame football team, but he's starting to lock those unofficials in for the fall. "I'm trying to get back down to Texas," he said. "I'm looking to try to get up to USC and Nebraska."
