It took less than one minute for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to score their first touchdown of the day against the Syracuse Orange. By the end of the first quarter, they were already 35-0.

As the complete dismantling of the Orange took place, everyone ran to social media to share their shock at the score line.

As the Notre Dame defense dominated Syracuse, putting up the first 21 points of the game, the Irish's head coach, Marcus Freeman, couldn't do anything to keep the smirk off of his face. As his offense extended the lead to 49 points, Freeman had a full-on grin.

Many members of the ACC (which Syracuse is in) had said that Notre Dame didn't deserve its top-10 ranking heading into the matchup because the Fighting Irish are independent, despite Freeman's team having wins over NC State, Boston College, and Pitt.

To put it simply, Freeman's squad answered any questions and silenced any doubts before the offense even stepped onto the field.

Sure, the Orange was just 3-7 heading into the game against the Irish, but a 49-0 lead with nearly seven minutes left until halftime is impressive against any opponent, even one that isn't anything to write home about.

With the win, which was virtually a lock with an entire half still remaining, Notre Dame would move to 9-2 overall and would be one step closer to yet another berth in the College Football Playoffs, despite everyone saying they didn't deserve the spot.

Two pick-sixes and a blocked punt for a touchdown, followed by three dominant rushing touchdowns for running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, as well as a passing TD from CJ Carr to Will Pauling, were all the Irish needed to show the world they deserved every ounce of praise they received.

After walloping the Orange, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish would turn their attention to the Stanford Cardinal, their final regular-season opponent of the year, before setting their sights on the College Football Playoffs, which were rapidly flying into focus.
