With another week of games in the books, the College Football Playoff picture has shifted again. Unfortunately, depsite being 3-1 on the season, the Notre Dame football team is still on the outside looking in. However, they irish are going to have a chance for a statement game this weekend.

It's not surprising after a loss to Northern Illinois that pollsters think Notre Dame needs to do more to prove they're one of the 12 best teams in the sport. Especially since the Huskies suffered an upset loss of their own this weekend.

While Notre Dame football did get a 28-3 win over the Miami Redhawks, there are some people (especially Irish fans) who still wonder if this team is really all that good. Especially with Riley Leonard at the helm.

The new AP poll does have the Blue and Gold move a bit closer to the goal of getting back in the field. With Notre Dame now sitting at No. 16. Should they manage to overcome No. 15 Louisville this Saturday, they will be firmly back in the College Football Playoffs picture, though it's likely dreams of hosting a game in the postseason could be over.

The biggest change this week is that there isn't going to be a G5 team in the playoffs. Northern Illinois looked like the best bet, but this late in the season, the highest ranked G5 team being just No. 25 just doesn't bode very well for that group of teams.

Michigan also jumps back into the college football field thanks to their win over USC. This also means that all but two playoff spots are now inhabited by either the Big 10 or the SEC. The Notre Dame football are four spots away from getting in. This shows if they stay undefeated for the resst of the season, they're in.

It's staying undefeated that is the trick.
