On Saturday morning, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team added another commit to its growing list of talent. Safety Brandon Logan gave his pledge after decommitting from Vanderbilt on Friday.

In landing Logan, the Irish got themselves a commit from a talented in-state prospect. The 3-star defensive back out of Fort Wayne was thought to be a Notre Dame commit almost immediately after he had second thoughts about going to Nashville.

It’s not that often that someone looks at a 3-star prospect as a massive addition to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. However, Logan definitely checks that box for a couple of different reasons.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat out the Big Ten

While Logan didn’t have a ton of offers to play football, he did get offers from two Big Ten teams. Both Iowa and Indiana were wanting to get the safety on their defense.

You might say that the Irish should absolutely beat out Indiana for any and all prospects. However, Iowa is a different fish. That’s a team that could be a contender for the playoffs. They are at least a very good team. And certainly defensive players like what they see from the Hawkeyes.

Brandon Logan isn’t just playing football

One of the reasons that the safety doesn’t have a ton of football offers (not even Vanderbilt) is because he’s a heck of a two-sport star. Logan committed to the ‘Dores to play baseball.

However, in South Bend, the prospect is going to play both football and baseball. That makes his pickup huge for an Irish baseball team that struggled in 2024. They’re about to have some real talent added to a couple of rosters.

Coverage and ball skills will help Notre Dame Fighting Irish

While he’s projected to be a safety, Logan has some good ball skills. He recorded six interceptions as a junior and showed off the ability to stick with talented receivers at the recent Irish Invasion.

What’s clear is that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish got a very talented player who will help more than one team before his career is over.
