Justin Thurman has been a commit to Notre Dame football long enough that some Fighting Irish fans might have even forgotten that he’s in the fold. But he’s trying to make sure that people don’t forget that he’s very dedicated to Marcus Freeman and company.

One way the running back wants to make sure that he makes an impact is by working his butt off to peer recruit other prospects. He’s been wanting to get involved in that way since he committed back at the Grill and Chill event in 2023.

Thurman was back visiting Notre Dame football this past weekend. And while he didn’t need to commit a second time, he still loved coming back for the Grill and Chill again. During that process he talked to those who weren’t committed yet and made the case for why they should.

“It was absolutely great just being able to get back on campus,” Thurman recently told Irish Sports Daily. “Being able to get with the coaches again and get with some of the other fellow commits also too, some of the 2026 targets as well, that was absolutely great.”

“Being able to explain from a commit's perspective on why Notre Dame is the great place that it is, I feel like that really adds a unique perspective and can really help the target, those who are looking to commit to Notre Dame, really put themselves in our shoes as to why we chose Notre Dame.”
