While the Notre Dame football team is preparing for Louisville, it’s also working on a pretty important recruiting weekend. Among the prospects that will be in town for what is shaping up to be a rivalry game is one Jaidon Vanpelt.

“I went there for a football camp early in the summer,” the 2026 Indiana receiver told Irish Sports Daily. “It was really cool. I had a good time.” The camp Vanpelt is referring to is the Irish Invasion. The biggest camp of the summer for hte Fighting Irish.

So far, the Notre Dame football team hasn’t made an official offer. However, he is getting attention from plenty of schools. And it’s still early. The receiver is being courted by Marshall, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Akron and Eastern Michigan. He’d love to see Marcus Freeman hand him an offer this weekend, though he knows there’s no guarantee it will happen.

The Fort Wayne receiver is starting to get some attention from Power 4 schools. Another reason he hopes the Blue and Gold will come calling. “They like the separation I can get, the catches I can make, and just my ability to get open,” he said.

The Irish might not want to wait to long to get that offer out to Vanpelt. He was at Purdue a few weeks back and has some additional potential visits for later in the fall on his mind.

“I think I may be going to Penn State, OSU, and a couple other schools,” he said. Being a 2026 prospect, he can take his time a bit and see if someone like Notre Dame football does eventually really turn up the heat and try and add him to the recruiting class before next December.
