Ex-Notre Dame star wows again as NFL career keeps rolling

While he was never a Notre Dame football player, Brandon Aubrey has looked every big the part in the NFL.

Brandon Aubrey never played for Marcus Freeman or Brian Kelly or any other Notre Dame football coach. He did however, technically star for a Notre Dame futbol coach.

Aubrey starred at soccer during his in in South Bend. However, after briefly pursuing a professional soccer career, he’s found a more lucrative life as the star kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. As a member of “America’s Team” he’s wowed onlookers since the start of his rookie season by booming kick after kick from long distance with great accuracy.

On Thursday night, Aubrey once again showed how much the Notre Dame football team missed out on when he never put on the pads in college. In Dallas’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants that saw them improve to 2-2 on the season, the former Irish star went 2-for-3 on field goals, including booting a 60-yarder.

While the 60 yard boot is impressive, the fact that he missed a kick might even be more newsworthy. In his short career, Aubrey has missed just three field goals and just one from beyond 50 yards. The one miss from that distance was on Thursday night.

After the Cowboys were able to "overcome" Aubrey's miss, fans on social media had a good time commenting on the kicker's exploits.
