Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Going for the ACC championship, more
- Hannah Hidalgo and company are playing for a title
- Fighting Irish lacrosse stay on the winning path
- Baseball pitching keeps struggling
Hannah Hidalgo and her Notre Dame Fighting Irish teammates are continuing what’s been a hot run at the end of the season. On Saturday, they routed the Virginia Tech Hokies 82-53 to advance to the ACC Tournament championship. They’ll play the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Sunday at noon.
While Hidalgo shined once again, scoring 15 points while hauling down 6 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists, the Fighting Irish won thanks to a concerted team effort. Four Notre Dame players scored in double figures, with Sonia Citron leading the pack with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
The victory was the 7th straight for Niele Ivey’s crew, though they’ll need to find a way to stay focused and committed for a little while longer. Her team’s last loss just happened to be to the Wolfpack.
That game wasn’t particularly close either as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ended up losing by 16, 59-43. As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold, but when your team is red hot.
