Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Lehigh grad transfer comes to town, more

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball is still looking to add talent to its roster through the transfer portal. Of courese, no one else can enter the portal at this point, but there's still plenty of players out there who can pick a team.

The Irish's latest target could potentially help lessen the blow of losing Carey Booth. A new report from Matt Freeman of Irish Sports Daily claims that Lehigh transfer Burke Chebuhar is slated to check out what South Bend has to offer on Friday.

Last season was the best for Chebuhar who had played in a total of 22 games in each of his first two years with Lehigh. In the 2023-24 campaign, the forward played in all 32 games and started 22 while averaging 7.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

It seems unlikely that Chebuhar would fill in entirely for Booth, but he could be decent depth and size.

The Lehigh grad transfer isn't the only player the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball is trying to land out of the transfer portal. Earlier this week, former Illinois State guard Myles Foster was in South Bend. He too, could bring quite a bit of depth to a backcourt that could use some more scorers beyond Braeden Shrewsberry and Markus Burton.

While he still recovers from offseason surgery, Notre Dame football star Benjamin Morrison is hosting a camp this weekend back in Arizona. The camp is for players from grades 6 to 8 and one has to think they'd love to learn how to play the sport from one of the best defensive backs in the game.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish rival USC continues to try and bump up its defensive prowess. The Trojans hired Jim Hostler as a defensive analyst. Hostler is a former NFL defensive coordinator who should be able to help the team as it transitions to the Big Ten. Of course, Notre Dame faithful hope he doesn't help all that much.
