Notre Dame football commit shines with 3 TDs, 100 yards in high school season opener
While the Notre Dame football team gets ready to kick off its 2024 season, a number of the Blue and Gold's commits have already begun theirs. The high school football season for many, including running back Justin Thurman began last week.
While plenty of guys got out of the box fast, few got off to as impressive a beginning as Thurman, who continues to look like a relatively under the radar steal. Unfortunately, despite his solid start, Thurman couldn't lead his team to victory.
Of course, the Notre Dame football runningback commit did everything he could to try and help. He ran for exactly 100 yards on just 18 carries (5.6 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns. Unfortunately for Thurman and his teammates, Jesuit allowed several TDS and lost its first game of the season, 48-34.
Notre Dame football commit shows what he can do in season debut
Thurman has long been billed as a true home-run hitting back that has a chance to score any time he touches the ball. He's showed great receiving ability out of the backfield and also has experience returning kicks. All the tools are there for Thurman to be an outstanding all-around back for the Irish.
He's also someone who has worked quite hard to bring other talent to South Bend. That's just one of the reasons why he's been such a prized asset for the Fighting Irish since they brought him into the fold.
Notre Dame football is looking forward to getting him on campus. But before that, it looks like he's in for a big final high school season.
