Dallas Golden's comments on Notre Dame football surprise analyst
- Dallas Golden is one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 class.
- The safety's comments about Notre Dame were glowing in a way that surprised one analyst.
Notre Dame football is ramping up its recruiting something fierce as the calendar turns toward the spring. There’s different degrees of success for Marcus Freeman and company including a couple of new commits.
When it comes to going after some of the best prospects in the country, it appears that the Fighting Irish have got their foot in the door at several different positions. That includes one 4-star safety in Dallas Golden. Golden is sold on Notre Dame to a degree that it has actually surprised some recruiting analysts.
In particular, one analyst in All Hurricane’s Brian Smith was surprised when he had a conversation with Golden about his favorite recruiting visit.
“I asked him what was his best visit, just random question,” Smith said during an appearance on the Locked On Irish Podcast. ”He said Notre Dame. I said, that kind of surprises me. Why? He's a Tampa kid. And he said, well, they had the guys out there in the leprechauns and they just made it fun and really relaxed.”
Smith went on to say that the answer surprised him because it was such a departure from what Notre Dame football is known for.
Notre Dame football surprising some analysts with a new approach
The recruiting analyst added that he believes that Marcus Freeman’s arrival in South Bend has changed how the Irish recruit. It’s a definite shift from what the school was doing under Brian Kelly and of course the men who came before him.
“They've adapted to each kid no matter where they're from,” Smith added. “No matter their background, economics, etc. I think Freeman's the spearhead of it, but the staff has embraced it too.”
When it comes to landing Dallas Golden, 247Sports believes that the 4-star safety is indeed going to play his college ball in South Bend. On the other hand, On3 believes the team to beat is Florida State.
That it is up in the air is an indication of just how important Marcus Freeman’s approach is when it comes to some of the top players in the latest classes.
