The Notre Dame football team will have to start fall camp, and almost certainly the regular season without Benjamin Morrison. Knowing that, it’s still a testament to just how talented he is that several Irish analysts peg him as being right near the top of the list when talking about players who are the most important to the season in 2024.

Blue and Gold News recently put together the list of the players they think are most important for the Irish. The defensive back is the second most important to the team.

In order to reach the list of most important players and decide how to rank them, Five voters — Tyler Horka, Kyle Kelly, Todd D. Burlage, Steve Downey and Jack Soble — were asked to rank their top-25 most important Notre Dame football players ahead of the upcoming season. Players were given 25 points for a first-place vote, 24 points for a second-place vote, and so on and so forth.

Those votes eventually tallied to Morrison getting the second most points of anyone on the team. Morrison finishes just ahead of Xavier Watts on the list. While Blue and Gold News hasn’t officially revealed who the most important person is in their voting, it’s not hard to figure it out.

Riley Leonard is no where on the list at the moment. It seems highly unlikely that Notre Dame football’s starting quarterback isn’t considered one of the 25 most important players this season. So without doing so, the analysts tipped their hands on two picks.
