The Notre Dame football team has had a rough go of its wide receiver recruiting-wise this cycle. They've looked like the leaders for several prospects, only to fade at the end and see those prospects go elsewhere.

If we consider the way they recruited some of the top wide receivers in the country, guys that weren't committed to other schools just yet, as 'Plan A,' then the Irish have shown their adaptability by moving onto 'Plan B.'

In the last two days, Notre Dame football coaches have issued a number new offers to wide receiver recruits. What makes that so interesting is that three of those offers went out to receivers who were already committed elsewhere.

On Thursday, the Irish issued offers to Jace Brown, who is currently committed to UCLA and  Jalen Cooper who is committed to SMU. On Friday, they also issued an offer to Antavious Richardson, who is committed to South Florida.

The offers are certainly interesting on their face. Clearly, the Irish aren't happy with the way their recruiting at the position for the 2025 class has gone. However, coming in the door this late in the game for prospects already pledged elsewhere is bold if nothing else.

Brown has been on Notre Dame's radar for well over a month, but the offer from the Irish staff officially came yesterday evening. They'll work on setting up a visit for the 6-2, 195-pound California pass catcher.

The same goes for Cooper, a receiver from Texas who also has offers from Texas A&M, Baylor, and Kansas, among others. Richardson also has plenty of power conference offers including Mississippi State and Duke.

All three receivers will hopefully be visiting Notre Dame football in the next few weeks. If this new approach works it will be interesting to see if it continues at other positions.
