Notre Dame football gets impressively dapper NIL deal ahead of Saturday
Love it or hate it, NIL seems like it’s here to stay. It will almost certainly find a way to stick around even when Notre Dame football and all the other teams in the sport move to revenue sharing.
However, this week, one company showed that even if there are dangers of getting too involved with NIL initiatives, it can do a bit of good as well. More importantly, it can make players look good.
Ahead of the Notre Dame football team’s game against the Texas A&M Aggies, a bespoke menswear company, ESQ Clothing, is outfitting both the Irish and Aggies players with new sportscoats to wear as they head into the stadium to prepare for their season opening tilt.

“We kind of jokingly say we get first dibs on viewings of every team, because we see the guys before any media does.” Founder and owner Ge Wang told Blue & Gold Illustrated. “Everyone knows they got dudes on the D-line. I mean, there are some guys that are definitely NFL-caliber.”
Wang has said that his company’s mission is to provide sports coats to men who have builds that can be hard to fit regular coats. They’re specifically tailored for guys who have the size and shape of top of the sport football players.
Wang said that he understands these coats are things that can be worn after their playing days are over. They can even be used when they go to job interviews and other appearances when they’re looking for something after football.
ESQ also dresses Northwestern, Vanderbilt and Duke and will be providing suits for both Notre Dame football and Texas A&M before the two teams face off against each other on Saturday night.
Should you tune into the game early and catch a view of players head from the team bus to Kyle Field, the blazers they’ll be wearing will be ESQ brand.
