Notre Dame football gets worst possible news on defensive back
As the Notre Dame football team prepares for the regular season premiere on Saturday night, head coach Marcus Freeman was mostly upbeat about his team's status. After all, Riley Leonard continues to be 100 percent, the new weapons are looking good and even returning stars are looking better and badder than ever.
Unfortunately there was a piece of bad news, though it was not all that unexpected. While the Irish have gotten through fall camp and now in the first days of prep for Texas A&M relatively healthy, there was one big injury.
Defensive back Chance Tucker will be out for the year, the Notre Dame football coach reported.
Notre Dame football loses another player for the season
Tucker tore his ACL. The injury actually happened last week, but at the time, Freeman said they didn’t yet know the extent of the injury. An MRI finally came back and showed that the damage was a full tear.
"You feel terrible for him that he loses this season."
On the other hand, the Irish head coach wanted everyone to know that Tucker going down is far from the end of the season. Freeman added that the corner spot will be fine. He said that there is plenty of depth provided, particularly from Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore.
There is also the fact that Benjamin Morrison has come back faster than most people expected. He’s ready to play and play a lot. And he appears to be 100 percent.
Chance Tucker going down hurts for him. It sucks for Notre Dame football, but it’s not massive loss.
