Notre Dame football star stays near the top of mock NFL drafts

Joe Alt is going to be a very early draft pick for Notre Dame football faithful as he continues to be a darling of the mocks.

As several former Notre Dame football stars get ready for the NFL draft, there is one player who continues to be touted by all the draft experts. Joe Alt did nothing at the combine to convince anyone he shouldn’t be among the Top 10 picks in this spring’s draft.

SI.com recently took a peak at what the experts in the field were predicting. That included ESPN’s Mel Kiper, who still believes that Joe Alt has the makings of a very good professional football player.

"Nothing over the past month has changed my mind about the Titans taking the draft's top offensive tackle and starting him on the left side as a rookie. In fact, after they released Andre Dillard last week, the need is even more severe. Alt started 33 games at left tackle in college and surrendered just six sacks, four of which came when he was a true freshman in 2021. He would upgrade an O-line that ranked 31st in sack rate per dropback (11.1 percent) last season." - Mel Kiper.

The Tennessee Titans have been mentioned repeatedly as the landing spot for the now-former Notre Dame football star. Tennessee needs help on the line, and Alt has the body to move people out of the way.

Ex-Notre Dame football star continues getting mock draft love

Joe Alt was arguably the best tackle in college football over the last two seasons. In 2022, he was named a first-team All-American by ESPN, the Associated Press, Pro Football Focus, and CBS Sports. In 2023, the junior was named a unanimous All-American.

Should the Titans hold to what everyone thinks they’re going to do, it would be the first time since the team has drafted a Notre Dame football player in 20 years. It seems like it’s just about time for a Fighting Irish star to head to the AFC South squad.
