The Notre Dame football team is preparing for the Louisville Cardinals, but Marcus Freeman and company are also working on the future of the team. To that end, when the Cards come to South Bend, so will one of their top quarterback commits.

The Fighting Irish were hoping to get two quarterback commits into town, however Deuce Knight is taking in the Auburn Tigers once again. It feels like at this point we’ve lost count how many weekends in a row he’s visited the SEC school.

However, while Knight not coming to town is the bad news for the Notre Dame football team, Noah Grubbs deciding to take in the school he’ll sign with in the winter of 2025 one more time. Considering how the game between the Irish and Cardinals have turned out recently, it could be one heck of a battle.

The 6-foot, 4-inch and 188-pound Floridian committed to Notre Dame on June 1st of this year, giving the Irish one of the best quarterbacks in the country. All of the recruiting sites have Grubbs as one of the best quarterbacks in the class.

While the Deuce Knight news isn’t the news that many were hoping to hear, it’s still a good sign for the Irish. They have recruited the position well since Marcus Freeman took over, and have dipped into the transfer portal to plug gaps as well.

The hope is that with CJ Carr already in the fold, Deuce Knight coming in 2025 and Noah Grubbs coming with the 2026 class that the Notre Dame football team can stay out of the portal for the next few seasons at the very least.
