Notre Dame football running backs guru earns top honors, ranked 3rd best
As we talk about getting ready for the Notre Dame football season, it seems like most fans want their team to have a pass-heavy offense. Especially with Mike Denbrock and Riley Leonard in the mix.
However, the Fighting Irish have long prided themselves on leaning on a powerful run game. Audric Estime is just the latest example of how the team has had its best players running over around and through opponents.
That’s why having a competent running backs coach for Notre Dame football is still incredibly important. The good news here is that the Fighting Irish is better than competent. At least according to social media account Big Game Boomer. That account believes running back coach Deland McCullough is the third best at his position in the sport.
Notre Dame football coach gets some serious love
It is of course, always worth pointing out that Big Game Boomer isn’t any sort of offical analyst. In fact, on occasion he tends to go out of his way to post things just to get engagement.
On the other hand, McCullough has shown enough under head coach Marcus Freeman that considering him among the best in the business isn’t outrageous. Even if I think No. 3 might be a big high based on a small sample size.
Sitting at third, the Notre Dame football running back coach is behind only Michigan’s Tony Alford and Oklahoma’s Demarco Murray. Alford has had a stable of great runners for the Wolverines while Murray was a fantastic running back in Norman who is trying to shape other backs into the best in the country.
