Notre Dame's long chase for a top WR target almost certainly ends in mid-July
While the Notre Dame football program has faced some challenges with recruiting losses at the wide receiver position, it's not over yet. There are still some promising opportunities on the horizon, including a potentially game-changing commit later this month.
La Verne (Calif.) Bonita star Dylan Robinson is set to commit on July 18 officially. When he does, it seems like a good bet that he’ll pull the trigger for the Fighting Irish. If the 4-star prospect does pull the trigger for Marcus Freeman and company, it could change the trajectory for recruiting for the position.
It is not yet a done deal for Robinson and Notre Dame football. He’s got some serious pursuers including UCLA, Utah and Washington. And his last official visit was June 21 for the Bruins. However, the Irish still appear to be in the lead.
Notre Dame football could turn around WR recruiting later this month
One sign that things are going well for Notre Dame is that the program entered the race on April 29th when they officially offered the California standout. Things have been moving fast, and the Irish have held an advantage against the schools that had been on him longer.
After a great official visit, and continued attention, the Irish have seem to have put themselves in position to close on commitment day.
As a junior in 2023, Robinson was an impressive two-way star for a Bonita squad that has plenty of skill. On offense, he reeled in 22 receptions for 514 yards and six touchdowns. Robinson was also a defensive playmaker, collecting 69 total tackles and 4 tackles for loss. He also intercepted 4 passes and broke up another 5.
The Notre Dame football team is hopeful he’ll bring those skills to South Bend when he pulls the trigger on July 18.
