The 2024 NFL Draft is in just two days, and there’s a gaggle of former Notre Dame Football stars who are hoping that they’ll get selected early. Joe Alt is as close to a sure-fire 1st round pick as the Fighting Irish have had in some. After that, there are questions on just where everyone else will go.

When it comes to former Notre Dame Football linebacker JD Bertrand, there is at least one analyst who believes that the linebacker could be moved up in the draft because he’s the complete package. He’s someone who is very good on the field and he’s a heck of a guy off the field.

In a social media post shared by Reese’s Senior Bowl’s executive director Jim Nagy, he showed a handwritten letter from Bertrand thanking him for inviting him to the event. Nagy said it was “unexpected & certainly unnecessary, it was a nice gesture by a mature young man who I’m confident will out-perform whatever he gets picked this week.”

Ex-Notre Dame Football linebacker shows he’s the complete package ahead of 2024 NFL Draft

While Nagy makes his case for Bertrand to be better than anyone expects, it’s fair to point out that he’s a bit of an enigma. Last season, in one of the best defenses in the country, the linebacker posted 76 tackles and a career high 2.5 sacks.

However, there are analysts out there that believe that if he gets selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, it’s going to be very, very late. Like 7th round late.

According to NFL.com, the consensus is that, at best, he’ll be a “bottom of the roster” or practice squad linebacker. That’s despite the fact that his athleticism score from the NFL Combine was 73, making him the sixth-best linebacker in the entire draft.

His ability on the field, and the kind of guy off it contributes to being one of the most interesting Notre Dame Football entries in this year’s draft.
