Sextet of Notre Dame football stars make All-American teams
It’s officially that time of year. We’ve already gotten mostly through the individual awards season, but with the Notre Dame football season just a few weeks off, we’re starting to learn what players the national media think will shine above all others.
On Monday, both the Associated Press and On3 released a couple of their All-American teams. The AP focused on every player and every class in college football. While On3’s focus was on the best true freshmen in the sport.
In total, two Notre Dame football stars made the First Team All-American squad for the AP, with tow making the second-team roster. Finally, two members of the Fighting Irish made the true freshman All-American team.

As far as those who made the True Freshman All-American team for the Irish, it’s a guy who is still trying to grab a starting spot on the offensive line. Anthonie Knapp at least has a shot to be the starter when Notre Dame lines up against Texas A&M for its opener.
He’s joined on the other side of the ball by linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa who has gotten a ton of positive comments aimed his way since he first arrived at South Bend.
Regarding the AP All-American team, it should come as no surprise that Xavier Watts, last year’s player of the year, made the cut for the first team. He’s joined on the team’s defense by Defensive tackle Howard Cross III.
Junior cornerback Benjamin Morrison and senior tight end Mitchell Evans got listed on the second team.
All of this just goes to show that the Notre Dame football team has got plenty of talent on its roster. Now they just need to find a way to make that talent to big wins and get the Irish to the National Championship game.
