Top Notre Dame football target will be in attendance for the enemy in Week 1
When Notre Dame football goes into College Station on Saturday, the Texas A&M Aggies will reportedly have more than 100 recruits in attendance. As unwieldy as that sounds, with that many players at the game, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that at least one of the recruits looking on is also someone the Irish are hoping to hail in.
It’s just not great that the player that will be watching the Blue and Gold take on the Aggies is someone Marcus Freeman and company are trying desperately to hold onto. The team has been slipping a bit for highly touted safety Bralan Womack.
On the bright side, the game against Mike Elko and company could be a boon for the Notre Dame football team. Come away with a win, at Texas A&M and maybe you get back into Womack’s good graces.
Notre Dame football has top target visiting Week 1 opponent
Having said all that, it can’t be particular good to see Womack announcing he’ll be in Aggieland and then use the hashtag #gigem when announcing the official visit, if you’re someone in South Bend.
The Irish recruiting efforts have gone south a bit since the calendar turned to June. Not only has it been a while since they got a new commit, but they’ve lost out on several of their top targets.
Most of those targets have been of the wide receiver variety, but there’s also been losses that aren’t quite losses like Bralan Womack. Perhaps getting off to a big win will turn things around on that front too.
Whatever impression they make on Womack this weekend, the season opening win is going to be a must. Notre Dame football now just has an added bonus to take Texas A&M to the woodshed.
