Back when Riley Leonard first started playing quarterback for the Notre Dame football team, he admitted that he was a bit over his head. After all, he wasn’t able to practice in the spring. He wasn’t 100% until the fall.
Eventually, things started rolling the right way. The offense started getting better and the defense kept shutting opponents down. Now, the Irish are getting ready for the Sugar Bowl and Georgia.
It’s the year's biggest game for the Notre Dame football team. Leonard shared a bit about how the team prepares for that contest. And in the mean time, he showed that he knows what he’s facing on Wednesday night.
Notre Dame football is ready for Georgia, according to Riley Leonard
"They do a lot of different things, starting with the front," said Leonard, before moving onto Georgia's defensive backfield. "In the secondary, you're going to get all these different coverages, and they do a great job of hiding them. Obviously have really good athletes that are able to."
Leonard also discussed the complexities of Georgia's defense and how it has changed how he has spent some of his free time this holiday week.
"We are definitely watching a little bit more film," said Leonard. "We have had a little bit more time, and my coaches do a great job of preparing me."
We’ll see just how good the Notre Dame football team is preparing when they take on the Bulldogs on New Year’s Day night. Here’s hoping Leonard is right about the job the coaches have done.
