The Notre Dame offense just lost what ended up being two first-round draft picks to the NFL, with Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price both heading to the next level. This means that quarterback CJ Carr is about to have a lot more put onto his plate when running the offense for the Irish.

With spring ball officially wrapped up now, everyone will be dissecting what was shown at the spring game, wondering if Carr will be able to get it done for the Irish. There are some who wonder if the offense will take a dip without Love and Price, but Notre Dame writer Bryan Driskell believes this offense could be better than 2025.

"The talent is there for this Notre Dame football team to be even more balanced on offense this year," Driskell said.

Now, Driskell isn't saying this because he is hoping it happens, but with the offense that Marcus Freeman has built around Carr, he believes it is truly possible for Notre Dame to take a step forward offensively. Losing two first-round pick running backs is hard, but now Carr will have more freedom to do what he truly enjoys and is good at doing: throwing the ball down the field.

Freeman knew that Carr needed some upgrades at wide receiver, so he worked at getting great recruits in the 2026 recruiting cycle, but also found some in the transfer portal as well. Freeman also got upgrades at the offensive line as well to help Carr have more time to make passes.

There are still a few little things Carr needs to work on, but instead of being a game manager this year, Druskeel believes Carr can steer the bus for the Irish. Last season, Carr handed the ball off more than throwing it, but while Aneyas Williams is a great running back, throwing the ball is a must for Notre Dame in the 2026 season.
