While there are many quarterback battles go on throughout the country in college football, one of the biggest and most talked about ones in the one going on in South Bend. The battle between CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey has been going stronger and getting closer and closer each day.

Recently, it has seemed like Minchey has started to take the lead in the battle even though it seemed like Carr has the starting position in the bag. Even though Marcus Freeman was dead set on having a quarterback battle, it always seems like Carr was going to be the starter, but now Minchey is making a play for the position.

While Minchey may be pulling ahead in the batle, there is still one big reason that could win Carr this battle that some are always forgetting.

CJ Carr is so new to Notre Dame that teams don't know what to expect

CJ Carr comes out of the Class of 2024 while Kenny Minchey comes out of the Class 2024. Minchey has appeared in a few games over the past two seasons and while it is short film, there is film out there on how he plays the game. Carr has yet to appear in a game and there isn't really any film out there on how he will play in a Notre Dame uniform.

Sometimes going with a player that no one has film on can almost be an advantage because teams don't fully know how to game plan. It has been seen in the NFL, when a backup quarterback that no one really knows comes in because of an injury, the opposing team can struggle because they don't know how that guy will play.

This could be the same case here for Carr as teams don't know exactly what his style of play is. While Minchey's style of play is also still a bit mysterious, there is something out there to look at with him in a Notre Dame uniform.

It is going to have to come down to who can lead this team better and who can have the most command of the offense. The good news is that whoever is selected as the starter will have a lot of support on the offense starting with running back Jeremiyah Love.
