The CJ Carr disrespect reaches new level in On3's new quarterback rankings

The Notre Dame quarterback should have plenty of bulletin board material heading into the 2026 season.

Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr had an amazing freshman season, one that he had to fight be the starter for. After a quarterback competition with now Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey, Carr won the starting spot and helped lead the Irish to an amazing 10-2 season and what should have been a College Football Playoff appearance.

Instead, Notre Dame was snubbed from the playoff and ended up opting out of a bowl and ending its season instead. Since then, it feels like all eyes will be on the Irish heading into the 2026 season, especially without star running back Jeremiyah Love. For Carr, he will have to step up his game even more to get the passing game going.

On3's Ari Wasserman released its quarterback rankings as of right now heading into the 2026 season, and the disrespect for Carr is outrageous. Wasserman has Carr ranked No. 10 heading into the 2026 season for quarterbacks, behind some who he had a better season than in 2025.

Carr ended the 2025 season with 2,741 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, six interceptions, and a 66.6 completion percentage. Those are great numbers for a freshman starter who hadn't seen any action at the college level.

Going into the 2026 season, Carr may not have Love to lean on anymore, but head coach Marcus Freeman went to work in the portal and brought Carr two new weapons out in the field. Freeman brought in Ohio State wide receivers Quincy Porter and Mylan Graham, both former five-star recruits out of high school.

Not only does Carr now have Proter and Graham, but he also has returning wide receiver Jordan Faison, who was the leading receiver for the Irish last season. Freeman has made sure Carr has the support in the field to take that big step forward in 2026, so a No. 10 ranking definitely seems too low for Carr, who has a very high ceiling.
