Malachi Fields may not have had the season he hoped to with Notre Dame, but he's making up for it at the Senior Bowl. That includes putting some moves on a pair of defenders that had onlookers' eyes popping out of their heads.

Fields is one of a couple of Fighting Irish players participating in Senior Bowl practices this week who have stood out. A new viral clip of the wide receiver showed the same kind of flash he showed in South Bend at times, too, including the ability to leave defenders in the dust.

In the clip, shared to social media by Pro Football Focus's Trevor Sikkema, the Notre Dame wideout is shown first blowing past the corner assigned to cover him and then, once that guy is beat, also motors past the safety who was supposed to help over the top.

After beating both defenders by about 10 yards, Fields put an exclamation point on the play by making a diving, full extension catch on a pass that, had it been on target, would have been a very easy walk-in touchdown.

It's likely even Fields' quarterback was so shocked by how open he was that the passer got anxious about making a perfect throw.

"WHEWWWW BUDDY," Sikkema wrote in the caption to go along with the video. "This is what it looks like when Notre Dame WR puts it altogether. Vertical separation, full extension, diving catch. One of the best plays of the week."

Fields came to South Bend after a 2024 that saw him catch 55 passes for 808 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Virginia Cavaliers. In part because of how good the Irish running game was, and in part because of the weapons at wide receiver, his numbers weren't nearly as good in his only season in Mike Denbrock's offense.

However, while Malachi Fields caught just 36 passes during his only season with Notre Dame, he did amass 630 yards (a career best 17.5 YPC) and equaled his career high of 5 touchdowns.
