For most of the week, any recruiting analyst anyone would listen to has talked about the Notre Dame football team being on the verge of a massive month. There are several players the Irish are in the running for, but the most significant piece of news on Wednesday afternoon is about keeping a 4-star commit in Thoms Davis.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound North Carolina outside linebacker returned to South Bend this past weekend for an official visit. He did so amidst a full-court press from Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. Davis, a Bulldogs legacy prospect at least gave Athens an opportunity to sell him on flipping from Marcus Freeman’s team.

Notre Dame football holds onto 4-star linebacker despite Georgia’s best efforts

On Wednesday, Davis clarified he is sticking with the Notre Dame football team. He told On3 analysts that he’s officially shutting down his recruitment.

“I’m locked in, this place is special and there’s no where else I’d rather be. I’m excited for this journey,” Davis said, according to Hayes Fawcett. “Go Irish!”

The announcement with Fawcett comes one day after another On3 analyst, Mike Singer, was very clear in saying he believes that despite Davis going and seeing what Georgia had to offer firsthand, he would not flip.

Singer knew exactly what he was talking about, but allowed Davis to say it himself. It’s never over until it’s over, obviously. Still, the Notre Dame football team looks like it’s about to go on another run. Thomas Davis seems to understand that as well and wants to be part of it when the commits start rolling in at a breakneck pace.
