NFL Draft Mock Watch: Quenton Nelson
By J.P. Scott
Former Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson is widely regarded by draft experts and analysts as the top available player at his position in the upcoming NFL Draft. With so many teams needing to upgrade their offensive lines heading into 2018, Nelson’s value has only increased.
Here is where some of the top experts and most recent mock drafts have Quenton Nelson being drafted next month.
R.J. White, CBS Sports: White has Nelson going No. 5 overall to the Denver Broncos. This would not be a bad scenario, as the Broncos will be looking for a new quarterback as well. Nelson would have the chance to grow in a new system with his signal-caller.
Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: Zielein has Nelson going No. 8 overall to the Chicago Bears. Not only would this be ideal for Irish fans in the northern Indiana and Chicagoland area, but it would allow Nelson to blend right in with a young, up-and-coming offensive unit. He would be a cornerstone of any success the Bears have in the immediate future.

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Iyer has Nelson going No. 12 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals, citing the need to replace a couple of longtime starters — filling voids they neglected to fill in 2017.
Matt Miller, Bleacher Report: Miller has Nelson going No. 2 overall to the New York Giants. Just like in Chicago, Nelson would immediately be part of an offensive rebuiild, surrounded by young talent at the skill positions.

Barring a handful of surprises, there doesn’t appear to be any chance that Quenton Nelson falls outside of the top-15 overall picks. Just as two of the experts have him mocked, I believe the ideal situation for Nelson is in Chicago, blocking for a young quarterback who shows promise in Mitch Tribusky and one of the most talented running backs in the league in Jordan Howard.
