The Notre Dame football team is going to have a chance to make a very good impression on one of the best defensive prospects in the 2025 class.

Notre Dame football’s focus on the field on Saturday is obviously going to be the Pitt Panthers. Off the field, it’s clear that the weekend is going to be a big one for recruiting.

One of the top guys that will be in town for Notre Dame football is going to be Ivan Taylor. Taylor is a 4-star safety who has the best programs in the country coming after him. However, it looks as though the Fighting Irish have better than a puncher’s chance of landing the Florida prospect.

According to Irish Breakdown, one big reason why Notre Dame football is in good standing for Taylor is because of his relationship with the coaches. In particular, he’s clearly a pretty big fan of head coach Marcus Freeman.

“The relationship with the Notre Dame coaches has been really good. I can talk to them about everything. It doesn’t have to be just about football. It can be about everyday things. As a program, I think they’re definitely growing. They have been thriving since Coach (Marcus) Freeman got there and the best is yet to come.”

Notre Dame football trying to stand out

Chris O’Leary and Al Golden have been working on Taylor the most since the Golden Domers really zeroed in on the 4-star prospect.

He’s boasting 14 total offers from some of the best teams in the country, including Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, and of course, Notre Dame football.

Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a clear-cut frontrunner for Ivan Taylor’s services. However, considering how well the Notre Dame recruiting efforts have gone for the 2025 class, getting him to South Bend is a massive step in the right direction.

Last week, the Fighting Irish locked down the commitment of 2025 tight-end prospect James Flanigan. Could this weekend see Notre Dame football reel in a top defender?
