One of the best quarterbacks to play the position for Notre Dame football in the last 40 years isn’t thrilled about the firing on the Irish’s WR coach.

Ever since Marcus Freeman announced that he and the Notre Dame football team were parting ways with wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey, there have been reactions from all over Fighting Irish nation.

The most popular reaction is one of confusion and shock. Especially since the firing of Stuckey came just one day after Freeman said that if it were up to him, he’d keep his entire staff intact.

For some, there’s less confusion and more frustration over the decision to fire Stuckey. Count former Fighting Irish star Brady Quinn among those who wasn’t afraid to voice his displeasure at the move.

Quinn, a former quarterback and now a football analyst took to social media to weigh in on the move.

"“Incredibly disappointed to see @ChansiStuckey no longer w/ @NDFootball. He’s one hell of a coach, recruiter & an even better man. This FR WR class shined this year thanks to his development. Wish him the best #GoIrish”"

Quinns comments about the freshmen wide receivers and the potential incoming freshmen has been echoed by many supporters of the program in the aftermath of the firing.

Ex-Notre Dame football star confused and frustrated

More than anything else, the timing of the firing just comes off as very odd. To the point where there have been more than a few rumors (that won’t be discussed here) about stuff going on behind the scenes.

While Freeman has said the decision was based on the way the receiver room performed this year, it’s worth pointing out that the unit had its fair share of injuries.

One thing is clear, it’s not hard to understand why one of Notre Dame football’s leading receivers in Chris Tyree entered the portal the day before Stuckey was fired. It appears he was as frustrated with Freeman’s decision as Brady Quinn was.
